Climate Change - Threat to environment

Climate Change - Threat to environment

The Environment is a huge place. It is facing numerous problems ranging from global warming to deforestation. One of the major issues our environment is currently experiencing is climate change.

Climate change is generally referred to as the change in weather over a long duration. It happens due to natural reasons such as changes in the seasons, changes in the weather, etc.

Keywords: environment, climate change, carbon dioxide, greenhouse gases, deforestation, water, temperature

But now climate change mainly occurs due to man-made causes. It is drastically affecting our environment.

Causes of Climate change include:

1. Deforestation:

Cutting off trees leads to less absorption of Carbon dioxide gas which triggers a way to create change in the environment.

2. Use of vehicles:

Using vehicles for transportation increases air pollution causing greater emissions of greenhouse gases.

3. Burning fossil fuels:

The burning of fossil fuels like coal emits harmful gases into the environment.

Impacts of climate change:

Climate change adversely impacts the environment on earth starting from the temperature to the health of living organisms.

1. Hotter temperature:

The emission of greenhouse gases in the environment increases the overall surface temperature. According to studies, the global temperature rose from 1.8°F (1°C) from 1901 to 2020. Hotter temperature is also increasing the rate of volcanic eruptions and forest fires. It also causes the melting of glaciers.

2. Severe storm:

As the temperature is increasing, it causes more evaporation of vapor resulting in more precipitation. The precipitation also indulges in an excessive amount. These severe storms cause the loss of shelter for many people.

3. Drought:

Due to increased temperature, water gets evaporated in an excessive amount thereby causing scarcity of water.

4. Agriculture:

As climate change causes scarcity of water, it directly affects the growth of crops. This also leads to the scarcity of food.

5. Health:

Human needs basic needs to live a complete life. Out of which its two basic needs i.e. food and shelter are impacted by climate change. Due to the scarcity of food and water, humans have to face hunger issues. Temperature rise is causing various skin problems in humans.

Apart from this, climate change also affects water bodies. Oceans are becoming more acidic. Also, climate change causes acid rain. It also acts as a factor for ozone layer depletion.

What can be done to reduce climate change due to man-made causes?

1. Plant more trees. Stop deforestation.

2. Avoid the use of vehicles.

3. Use renewable energy resources.

With this, it is very important to create awareness among people about the issues affecting our environment. It is our responsibility to secure the environment for future generations.
